Prime Metal
One of the main goals of the management team heading up Prime Metal is to improve production efficiency. The company is a leader in its own reference market, supplying complete and diversified metalwork products in steel and aluminium.
The leadership rests on the solid pillars of technological innovation, rooted in extensive technical experience acquired in the field in over forty years of business and continual investments in the work force and technology.
On the strength of this, the current CEO is focused on his strategic vision of improving production efficiency.
The recent acquisition by Prime Metal of a Classica 612 model combined with a 200 A Plasma cutting system poweredby a latest-generation Servo intensifier pump fits perfectly into this vision.
Thanks to the combined technology and hybrid power supply, the machine, through its own production performance, contributes towards improving the efficiency of Prime Metal’s production cycle.
The combined waterjet-plasma cutting system allows the best technology to be used based on the material being processed, thus improving system productivity and optimising the cost of cutting in some applications and in some materials.
Prime Metal uses the water jet for cutting stainless steel and aluminium. Plasma cutting is used when the cutting speed needs to be increased and when it is not necessary to safeguard the mechanical and aesthetic properties, as in the case of low-quality materials such as iron.
When, however, high-quality materials are processed, such as certain types of stainless steel, frequently used in the building industry in the Emirates due to its resistance to saline environments, waterjet cutting is used, a type of soft cut that does not compromise the physical properties of the material.
Through a dual-channel interface, the operator chooses whether to work with one technology or in combination, as in the case of small holes, sharp edges or when working with large thicknesses in which the cut is made with the waterjet and finished using plasma.
The machine automatically manages the two technologies switching one on and the other off, thus completing the work in the shortest time possible with the least cost per workpiece possible.
The other advantage of having access to combined technology in a waterjet infrastructure is that the full tank of water allows the plasma to be discharged into it. When the torch is switched on, the heat is expended in the tank along with the noise and fumes generated during the fusion, which remained trapped in the water. Another very important aspect of this success story by Waterjet Corporation is loyalty by the customer who appreciates the technology and performance as well as the service that the company can manage through an exclusive local dealership. Given Prime Metal’s satisfaction with the first previously purchased machine and featuring all the above-mentioned aspects, the company included the purchase of a second machine in the budget which it finalised after just three years.
