For robotic automation of combined disc and waterjet cutting for kitchen counters
The potential development of robotic automation in industry is enormous and there are many application markets which are open to this technology.
More and more companies are looking for partners who can provide avant-garde automated solutions to add value and flexibility into their production cycles.
ARRTSM GmbH designs and integrates CNC robotic systems by developing technology that significantly increases their customers’ productivity.
The company puts its experience in software development and partnerships with the best technology manufacturers at the service of the integration to propose cutting-edge robotic systems.
The decision to work with Waterjet Corporation for the waterjet cutting systems is a sign of the company’s technological leadership: the first application stemming from the partnership with the German company is a robotic island for processing natural stone slabs for use in producing kitchen counter tops.
The system includes the combination of waterjet cutting with a diamond blade for dry cutting: the technological challenge of this specific job was to allow for maximum freedom of movement in the space occupied by the anthropomorphic robot arm.
“Being manufacturers of pressure intensification systems allowed us to take part in this joint venture.
ARRTSM was, in fact, looking for a partner that could manage the entire technological infrastructure related to waterjet cutting.
Only one manufacturer can guarantee answers to the technical challenge involved in Robot-Waterjet integration”, explains Massimo Russo, the vice president of Waterjet Corporation. The wiring of the utilities serving the cutting head – water, compressed air and abrasion – was designed and produced to avoid obstructing the robot’s freedom of movement. The spiral cables can accompany the arm in all the trajectories that the robot uses to move on the six axes.
The work surface on which the slab is loaded is equipped with all the automated devices required to guarantee the integrity of the workpiece and the safety of the operator.
