Vallmar

Vallmar as been operating in the stone and ceramic processing sector for over fifty years and is specialised in processing marble, granite
and ceramic materials. The company has always focused on combining the utmost care and research into the best materials with the use of most advanced technology available on the market.

It is by focusing on technology that Vallmar and Waterjet Corporation came together culminating in the purchase and installation of a Classica 612 machine with a 4000×2000 mm work surface, fitted with a Servo hybrid intensifier pump. The machine features combined technology for decorative hydrofinishing and waterjet cutting with 5 axes.

To meet the processing requirements of large slabs, the Waterjet technical department designed and fitted the machine with a system to load/unload the slabs using an electrical control unit capable of tilting the slab from 0° to 86° in 60 seconds. The automation of the loading and unloading reduced the risk of damaging the raw material that occurs in the handling stage.

The machine was then customised with the innovative Touch Wave Ceramics system, specifically developed to cuts thin sheets of ceramic for use as kitchen counter tops. The hardware and software package allow 45° cuts to be made with extreme precision even when the sheets are not perfectly flat as often happens when they are very thin. The system continuously detects the actual height of the sheet and automatically corrects the cutting trajectory, thus obtaining perfect sheets at all times, which will require minimal adjustments during bonding: the result of the cut is, in fact, virtually perfect. The two sheets can thus be assembled without the need for a finishing operation after the angled cutting of the profile. A very important detail of this system lies in the fact that the mechanical detection is always performed on the reject side of the sheet.

The installation and final testing were carried out in April 2022: customer care for Waterjet, of course, does not finish here, especially in the initial start-up stages, Waterjet technicians support the customer allowing the machine to achieve its full production capacity in the shortest time possible.
