In the mining industry, the production of rubber and polymethyl coating plays a crucial role to ensure optimal performance of the mills used in mineral processing. In this context, Polymet Solutions Corporation, a company based in Kazakhistan but owned by Canada, specialised in the sector, is a supplier of the highest technological level for customers of the calibre of Tyssen Krupp and Metso.

The company has recently acquired a highperformance hypertechnological machine for water cutting by Waterjet Corporation: this choice is part of an ambitious industrial plan launched with the acquisition of a new dedicated production plant specifically to the production of rubber coatings.

A classic CL 612 model with 5 3D axes and with the brand new Pro 100% electric servo-pump e-drive with very high efficiency (90%) that guarantees a jet intensification up to 6.000 Bar.
A very high-performance system because the technical performance required of the machine is very challenging: the machine, in fact, must cut metals with very important thicknesses – up to 300 mm – for the construction of the moulds inside which the rubber is vulcanized, intended for the realisation of coatings for mills – the company’s core business.
“The customer had already purchased a water cutting machine from a competitor but, at the time of the completion of the supply, the company had no guarantee on the performance of the machine purchased concerning the functionality of 3D cutting. For this reason they steered the choice on us who instead, guaranteed excellent performance on that particular technical aspect” comments Engineer Massimo Russo.

In addition to the need for 3D, linked to the geometries of moulds that have inclined surfaces which are then cut with an interpolating head in the space or on the plane, since the moulds have very high thicknesses – 100, 200 and even 300 mm – it was necessary to have a high cutting performance guaranteed by the Full Electric E-Drive Pro from 6000 bar Polymet Solutions Corporation.
